In preparation for math lessons in which I teach money skills, I organize our classroom’s set of play money. I divide used watercolor paint trays into compartments using a strip of cardstock paper. Folding the cardstock into five sections with ¼-inch dividers allows my students to select, count and replace their coins quickly. I prefer trays with the clear see through covers and have labeled each section with penny, nickel, dime, quarter, and half dollar stamps. The label strip is glued into the container, and the kids love having their own coin trays.
