Before I leave school each afternoon, I write four math problems on the board along with one sentence to be corrected. These problems are called 'DR' or daily review. Students are to work on this as soon as they enter the classroom while I am processing the lunch and attendance reports. These papers are quick to grade and anyone who makes 100 may go to the treasure box for a small reward. These morning activities are never recorded scores so there is no threat or intimidation. Students practice prior skills or possibly new skills. I am convinced that this practice has helped me to consistently maintain high scores on the TCAP Math test each spring.
