If you want to make permanent lines on a marker board, using colored electrical tape works like a charm! You can section off areas of the board for different subjects by using different colors. I’ve even found stick-on letters made of the same material, which can be used to identify the sections of the board. It takes a strong hand or razor blade to remove the tape and letters, so plan ahead before applying.

I use a variety of bulletin board borders :).

Permanent markers work well for lines and headings. When you want to make changes, rub over the "permanent" marks with a dry erase marker, then erase with your regular eraser.

For a less permanent solution I use wet erase markers on the dry erase board. It is easy to remove with a wet cloth, but withstands a standard eraser.

Painters' tape sticks forever but peels right off and leaves no residue behind. I section off homework and test/quiz sections this way. And I can even buy colors to match my school's colors.
