E-mail Better Than Signatures

August 24, 2005

Found In: parent-teacher communication, parents

For the past few years, I have required that all tests and quizzes go home for signatures, but I have found it to be too time consuming. This year, I am trying something new that may be time consuming initially, but hopefully it will save time over the course of the year.

I intend to enter the email addresses of all families of my students. A few days before a test, I will send a mass email notifying parents that a test will be given on a particular date, graded and handed returned by _________. I also ask parents if they do not see the returned test from their student, to please notify me. This puts the responsibility of checking for tests on the parents and off of me. For those families who do NOT have access to email, I can have those tests signed and returned to me.
