First Day Handouts

At the beginning of each new school year, I used to have trouble finding my old seating charts, daily planners, and other paperwork that I absolutely love to use. So this year I began a 3-ring binder system for filing my first day handouts. As I look through papers and files I used the previous year, if I find something that I would like to keep for those vital first days of school, I put it in the new 3-ring binder and throw all of the extra copies away. That way I keep first day files together, where I can locate them easily and minimize the bulk in my filing cabinet. The binder can be easily labeled and the information recorded on disc. Have a happy and organized first day of school!

I use a binder for the first week of school also. I use page protectors so I do not have to hole punch my master copies.

Natalie, that's a great point, thanks!

My only problem with binders is needing to hole punch the papers. It sometimes cuts part of the worksheet or I don't have time so it doesn't get done. Use sheet protectors or those folders that are hole punched - much quicker.

I have switched to green as well-we have a copier that makes pdfs and sends to your email- I keep everything for school on a flash drive-in labeled folders. Then I just send via email to print shop and everything arrives ready to go :-)

I also use the three ring binder system for not only the beginning of the year, but the end of the year as well. I also run papers off at the end of the year for at least the first two weeks of school. I don't have to use my time at the start of the school year waiting in line at the copier!

I do the same thing, but I also make "kits" of about 10 extra sets (per course) of first day paperwork schedule changes and transfers. Works geat!
