Goal Notebooks

Found in: parent-teacher communication

In order to keep parents connected, I send home a Goal Notebook each day. I type a note to the parents about what is going on in our classroom, reminders of upcoming events, deadlines for book orders, etc. The students glue this in their notebooks along with a short math review sheet, a comprehension exercise, a journal entry and a slip requiring parents to fill in how many minutes their child read at home that evening. The parents respond in the same notebook with comments about what we are doing or messages for me. Goal Notebooks are a great way to communicate on a regular basis and the parents love it!
