I make sure everyone's birthday is special by recognizing children's half birthdays. If a child has a birthday during the summer vacation, we celebrate the half birthday (you could do the same thing with off track times). I give each child a birthday card no matter when the day is celebrated, but I write '1/2' between the words Happy and Birthday. I make computer stickers on address labels for: 'Today Is My Birthday!' with a birthday cake graphic. I also make some that say 'Yesterday' and 'Tomorrow' to take into consideration weekend or holiday birthdays, and I give each child a birthday pencil.
