Library Orientation

Found in: back to school; school library

Each fall I give a library orientation to the ninth graders. I explain where things are in the media center, how to look up materials, and policies and procedures. Then I give a quiz, which has them look for materials on the shelves and via computer. One question is: 'What's the librarian's name?' I then grade the papers and give them to the regular classroom teacher who can give them credit for their work. It's fun and educational.
