Morning Journaling - High School

Found in: foreign languages; journaling

Every day as students come into the room, they immediately write a journal entry on a prompt displayed by the overhead projector. Journal entries may involve use of new vocabulary or key questions. One student in each class distributes and collects the journals every day. Journal time lets me take roll, talk to students about individual problems, and give a mind-set to the classroom activities for the day. Journaling can be used in any class as a warm-up activity or preparation for class activities.
