Musical Fun

Found in: arts; games; outdoor activities

When the weather is nice, I take my 5th graders, chalk and beanbags out to the blacktop. In teams of five or six, we write musical symbols on the sidewalk and take turns calling out the names of the symbols. The first student to get his/her beanbag on the correct symbol wins. We reward winners on each team.

This game could be used for teaching the alphabet to little ones or for teaching kids to do math in their heads (give out problems such as 2 + 2 = ?).
