Read To Lead

Found in: classroom helpers; listening and following directions; motivating students; oral reading

Here's a new way to pick classroom helpers. I read stories to my students everyday. Each morning I write several sentences on the board from the stories that I read to the class the previous week. I randomly choose students to read one of the sentences and tell me from which story it came. The students who respond correctly are the helpers for the day.
