One way we involve our parents in activities is by having a fall festival. Every year, we have each teacher or group of teachers come up with a game for the students to play and we turn our hallways into a huge carnival. We ask the students to sell tickets and buy tickets to play the games. We ask the parents to help by working the different games and activities during the festival. The parents also set up a concession stand in the cafeteria where they sell hot dogs, candy and pop. A bluegrass band entertains, while the parents, students and visitors eat in the cafeteria. A school festival involves parents in two ways: some work the festival and others bring their children to the festival. It is a great way to get parents involved and get those hard to reach parents out to see the school.
