School Festival

Found in: parental involvement

We involve our parents in school activities is by having a fall festival. Each teacher or group of teachers comes up with a game for students to play, and we turn our hallways into a huge carnival. Students sell tickets and buy tickets to play the games. Parents work games and activities during the festival. Parents also run a concession stand in the cafeteria and sell hot dogs, candy and pop. A bluegrass band entertains, while the parents, students and visitors eat. A school festival involves parents two ways: some work the festival and others bring their children to the festival. It is a great way to get parents involved and get those hard to reach parents out to see the school.
