Take One Box

November 16, 2005

“I have a box labeled, Take One, that I place where students can see it as they come in to the classroom. If there is something in the Take One Box, students know to take one before they sit down. The box eliminates time spent passing out papers. And it eliminates papers placed at seats where no student sits if they are distributed before students arrive. The Take One Box increases student responsibility. I don’t hear any more, ‘But you didn't give me one.’ It also gives students something to do or read immediately upon sitting down.”
