When a teacher in our district earns an unsatisfactory evaluation, the principal and teacher sit down and together make an improvement plan for the following year. The plan generally has 5-8 specific tasks. It is a cooperative plan with monthly meetings aimed at helping, not punishing a teacher. It may include time to observe a specific teacher, a book to read, a teacher-coach, a video. However, if a teacher earns an unsatisfactory two years in a row, that teacher is fired. So, the association also offers help to that teacher, and files a grievance!
