Teaching Leadership Skills

August 05, 2004

One potential resource for leadership skills materials is to contact your local Boy Scout office. Go in and look at the literature and ask for name and phone number of the person that does Junior Leader Training. The Boy Scouts of America is very focused on teaching leadership in fun ways. The boys don't even know what they are learning. Having been a Scoutmaster for eight years, I find much of it has crept into how I teach my Foundations for Life class (a four-year long class for learning disabled kids who need some life skills training to prepare for post-high school).
