Techniques for Music Review
April 30, 2003
To review note reading, I toss a lightweight ball around the room. I call the students' name then point to the note on the board for them to identify it. When teaching notes, students can use their hand and to count lines and spaces. When we review lyrics for songs we will be singing in a program, I say the lyrics and insert wrong words. They love to correct the teacher! If we are practicing singing and projecting to an audience, I draw a silly looking caricature on the board 'watching' the kids sing. I draw a smiling mouth on the character if they do a good job projecting their voices.
