I was once passing a classroom in my hometown elementary school and noticed these fuzzy yellow 'antennae' at the ends of the chairs that were upside-down on the desks (for floor cleaning purposes). Well, I figured out just what they were. I have always hated the sound of the chairs scraping the classroom floor and decided to ask my students for help by bringing in old tennis balls. This year they came through, and boy has it cut down on noise. With an Exacto knife, I made a cross cut in each tennis ball and slipped them onto the four ends of each chair in my classroom. The things we have to do when we don't have carpeting!
