Trading In Pencils

When students' pencils need sharpening, they raise their hand and inform me that they need a pencil. I exchange a sharpened pencil for the dull one. All pencils are then sharpened by me after school and are ready for the next day. This routine minimizes disturbance of the class, time spent away from productive activity, and deliberate pencil point breaking.
