Grading Group Projects Fairly

For a group project, I assign a task to each member then rotate the tasks. That way, each member is responsible for each part of the assignment. Observation is key. It becomes obvious who is doing the work and who is slacking off. I tell students they will be graded individually as well as a whole group. In that way they are accountable to each other, but one member’s poor performance does not impact the other individual grades.
