Group Vocabulary Games

Found in: creative thinking; games; vocabulary

To build vocabulary, I have my students design their own vocabulary games. They can model their games after an existing game such as Chutes and Ladders or create their own. The rule is that games have to help them study their vocabulary words. By creating the game, students learn the words because they write out the words and definitions. Then I have the students rotate to play other group's games, so they get repetition of the vocabulary that way as well. The more repetition, the better. The kids have a great time creating their own games, and playing the different games created by other groups.
