Modeling Independent Note Taking

I model note taking by showing students how to focus on main ideas when writing down their notes. I allow them to use their MacBooks or notebooks, whichever works for them. We have notes on the Smartboard and discuss what should be written down. Each time we take notes, we discuss and practice the method until they can do it independently—it only takes a few times—which helps when we take notes over a video.
