Quick Homework Completion Check

Found In: homework, grading, routines & procedures

While students complete their bell work at the start of each class, I go around the room quickly and visually check their homework, not for correctness but to see if they attempted the work and/or to check a few key problems. I use a rubber stamp to mark homework that passes inspection.

When bell work is complete, we review the homework as a group, and then students turn in their papers. Completed, stamped homework receives full credit.

Incomplete, unstamped homework receives partial credit. Students with unstamped homework who then complete it during the review session earn 80% credit. Students with unstamped homework who don’t bother to complete it during the review session earn 0% - 50%, depending upon how much of the work was completed.
