Recycled Waste Paper Project

March 23, 2011

My students completed a fun spring project called “Our Interaction with the Environment.” We discussed ways we could help keep our school environment clean and decided to collect waste paper and recycle it. My students went to all the classrooms and gathered waste papers from the teachers and from the front desk. We dipped these pieces of papers in water and left them for a day. The next day, we smashed the paper. Some of the students used blenders to blend the wet papers and made a paste. We spread the paper paste on aluminum foil and let it dry outside for two days. Two days later, we separated our recycled paper from the foil and made greeting cards to distribute among students and staff.

This activity helped my students learned the importance of keeping the environment clean and safe, and gave them a real sense of reusing recycled waste products. Plus, it created a cooperative learning environment and gave students a sense of happiness, confidence and unity.
