"Sense"ible Heart Art

Found in: art supplies, crafts & cooking, vocabulary

I love sensory activities, so when I taught Kindergarten and Early Childhood Sspecial Education my favorite project involved finger painting.

I give each child a heart (pre-cut for ones who couldn't cut, traced for ones who were working on cutting on lines, and a lesson on cutting for those who could cut free-hand) and some dry Jell-O - red, of course. First we would explore the dry Jell-O and then wet it to finger paint.

The activity used the senses, elicited lots of great language, and produced a piece of art that had texture and scent.
