Students Who Refuse To Do Work

Found in: Motivating Students, Student Participation

Students who refuse to do work often struggle with how to begin the task; so I will sit with them, and I record their answers, word for word, to my questions. Then I turn the paper back to them to finish.

I accept the work with both my and the student's handwriting. Usually I get a quality finished product. They just can't figure out how to start, and, after a time, they can do the work totally on their own.
