Summer Reading Wish List

Found in: Reading Activities, Programs, and Events; End of Year

As a literacy coach, I try to make the rounds to classrooms during the final days and get students as excited to fill out their "To Be Read" lists for summer as they are about composing their Christmas list each year! I book talk not only new titles and recent releases, but also fit in some classic titles as well. This allows kids to look for titles they might be more apt to find at libraries, bookstores, book swaps, and even thrift stores and yard sales. We talk about how and where to fit in reading minutes whenever they can and I share my summer reading plans, too. By sharing with students the many ways they can enjoy reading during vacation, it helps create an enthusiastic end to the school year!
