Teaching From Start To Finish

Found in: Transitions, Routines and Procedures

To make the best use of class time and teach from bell to bell, I use entrance and exit tickets. As students enter the room (or transition from a different subject area), there are one or two questions/problems on the board for them to work on, related to the day's topic or reviewing prior concepts. As I take attendance and do other routine duties, students are busy. They compare answers with others around them and discuss differences.

At the end of class, students complete one or two questions that assess their individual understanding of the day's learning objective. I collect these in order to make adjustments (if needed) to my next lesson, or to target a few students for remediation
