Teddy Bear Journals

I needed some way to get my students to write more at home, so I bought an eight inch little bear and a journal. I select a student randomly and have that student take “Teddy” and the journal home for the evening. I ask the student to tell me everything he or she did with Teddy. What did you to eat? Where did you go? Did you visit with someone? Did you go to the store?

My students are really motivated and want their turn. Next year, I plan on starting this earlier and making a little book of Teddy’s adventures for the students. I do have a back-up bear and journal; so far everyone has brought Teddy back.
