Three Incentives for Good Behavior

Found In: classroom management, discipline, routines & procedures

Here are a few incentives I use:

  1. I tell students exactly what I am looking for, regarding their assignments, as I move around the room...and then stamp their paper (which symbolizes a bonus point), right in front of them, if I see what I wanted to see.
  2. I hand out “Bonus Point” coupons good for just my class. A coupon is a reward for “making a good decision in class.”
  3. I give whole-class mini quizzes. No one can talk while I am reading/showing the question. The person who answers the questions knows that they better have it right, or else their classmates will lose a point. A student can only answer one question during the quiz. Everyone in the class earns the same grade...100%, usually.
