VOTE YES on Shalanda Young for OMB Director

We urge you to VOTE YES on Shalanda Young’s nomination to Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB).
Submitted on: March 14, 2022

U.S. Senate
Washington, DC 20510

Dear Senator:

On behalf of our 3 million members and the 50 million students they serve, we urge you to VOTE YES on Shalanda Young’s nomination to Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). Votes on this issue may be included in NEA’s report card for the 117th Congress.

Shalanda Young is exceptionally qualified through her previous experience as deputy director of OMB and staff director of the House Appropriations Committee, for which she previously served as clerk and deputy staff director. As the committee’s staff director, she oversaw the $1.3 trillion annual appropriations bills, disaster aid, and major aspects of COVID-19 related spending.

Ms. Young has a reputation on Capitol Hill as an honest broker of bipartisan funding agreements. She has previously been confirmed by the Senate with strong bipartisan support. We recommend her for her deep appropriations and budget expertise, and her determination to ensure the federal budget represents the American people.

Please VOTE YES on Shalanda Young’s nomination to Director of the Office of Management and Budget.

Sincerely,

Marc Egan
