Rise Up for LGBTQ+ Youth and Educators

With the passage of anti-trans legislation by the House and several state legislatures, elected leaders who believe in fairness must defend and stand in solidarity with LGBTQ+ students.

Tell Congress to “Rise Up” In Support of LGBTQ+ Youth

All students deserve a great education that gives them opportunities to learn, grow, and pursue their interests, no matter where they come from, what they look like, or how they express their genders. Athletics are an important part of the educational experience for many students, teaching lessons such as teamwork and perseverance.

H.R. 734 denies transgender students the chance—the right—to participate in school athletics. It is a mean-spirited attempt to erase transgender children from sports and public life. Unfortunately, the legislation is not unique: More bills targeting transgender rights have become state law this year than ever.

H.Res. 256/S.Res. 134 are resolutions in the House and Senate that support the Rise Up for LGBTQI+ Youth in Schools Initiative, a nationwide call to action to demand equal educational opportunity, basic civil rights protections, and freedom from erasure for all students—particularly LGBTQI+ young people.
