Letter to the Senate HELP Committee on Early Childhood Education
May 19, 2010
The National Education Association (NEA), representing 3.2 million educators across the nation, would like to share with you the enclosed materials in advance of next week’s hearing in the Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions on ESEA Reauthorization: Early Childhood Education.
NEA has a long history of promoting access to high quality education for all children in public schools. We are committed to making the same assurances to young children by supporting universal access to high quality, early childhood education and full-day kindergarten programs for all children. To this end, we urge Congress to take the opportunity to improve our schools and adequately prepare our nation’s children for success in school, work and life through ESEA reauthorization.
Attached for your information and use are:
- NEA Policy Brief on Early Childhood Education and School Readiness
- NEA Policy Brief and Fact Sheet on Full-Day Kindergarten
We thank you for your attention to this important information.
