Top Five Reasons to Go on an NEA Study Tour (The Honduras Edition)
The National Education Association and Heifer International came together to invite a group of educators from across the nation to spend a week in Honduras to learn about sustainable development, poverty alleviation, community organizing, and culturally relevant empowerment.
Based on workshops, project visits, cultural-historical experiences and interactions with teachers, union leaders, education professionals, and their students, the NEA members are developing a resource guide and lesson plans to bring a global perspective to their school experience.
So...what are the top five reasons to participate in an NEA study tour? (Check out our video)
These materials, and a video series will be posted on the NEA website so all educators can benefit from the study tour.
Heifer International combats hunger, alleviates poverty, and restores the environment by providing appropriate livestock, training, and related services to small-scale farmers worldwide. Heifer helps people use livestock as an integral component of sustainable agriculture and holistic development.
Both the NEA and the NEA Foundation believe in equipping members to address global education in the nation’s classrooms. This study tour is one of many initiatives providing resources to members so they are able fulfill the NEA mission of preparing every student to “succeed in a diverse and interdependent world.”
