The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) website Illuminations houses a collection of 607 PreK-12 lesson plans and 108 online activities to support math education.

Lessons can be searched by grade range and standards. An advanced option lets teachers search only for lessons with associated online activities.

  • Ladybug Adventures is a four-lesson grade K-2 geometry unit that lets students use what they know of number, measurement, and geometry to solve problems in a computer environment.
  • In Building A Box students in grades 3-8 develop their spatial visualization and geometric understanding. The lesson links to Cube Nets, an activity sheet that asks students which of 24 figures will make a cube.

Activities can be searched by grade range.

  • Data Grapher is an online activity for students in grades 3-8.
  • Illuminations latest tool is Dynamic Paper that lets K-12 teachers create nets, graph paper, number lines, number grids, tessellations, shapes, and spinners, and then export them as PDF activity sheets or JPEG images.

Math teachers will find a K-12 Standards page outlining components of a comprehensive mathematics program. Students analyze data by entering multiple rows and columns of data and selecting which data sets to display as bar graph, line graph, pie chart, or pictograph.
