I support Douglas Ward's position that all students who learn another language enhance their understanding and acceptance of those with other cultures.

I agree that being bilingual should not be a requirement. I do feel though it is important for individuals to keep there heritage strong and learn a language if it is what they want to learn. We have enough to teach them already without adding more to the busy students day.
