What is the NEA National Leadership Summit?
The NEA National Leadership Summit is an annual experience that unifies a strategic and interdisciplinary approach to developing education leaders and further developing NEA’s distinctive leadership brand. The NEA National Leadership Summit develops the next generation of leaders and activist leaders by preparing them with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to lead relevant, thriving associations and in their profession.

Who can attend?
The Summit is open to NEA members only.

When does registration begin?
Early registration opens on Monday, January 8, 2018 - Friday, January 26, 2018 or until filled. If necessary, late registration opens on Saturday, January 27, 2018 – Friday, February 9, 2018.

Will there be onsite registration available?
No. Once registration is at capacity, the registration system will close. It is imperative that attendees register as soon as possible. Again, there will be no onsite registration.

How much is the registration fee?
$225 per person (Early Registration)
$300 per person (Late Registration)

What is included in the registration fee?
The registration fee includes all Summit meals except Saturday dinner and Sunday lunch.

What time does the Summit begin?
Registration will open at 11:00am on Friday, March 16. The Summit opening program begins at 5:00 pm and concludes at 11:30 am on Sunday, March 18.

What is the hotel room rate?
$169 per night plus tax for single/double occupancy.


Hotel room block opens on Monday, January 8, 2018. However, the room block will close once capacity is met.

Leadership Summit Mission Statement

Purpose of the National Leadership Summit:
To develop activist leaders and prepare them with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to lead a relevant and thriving association. Activist leaders are from all segments of the association that demonstrate, through action, a deep commitment to the goals, values, and vision of the NEA.

Summit Objectives:
To deliver annually a unified, strategic, and interdisciplinary approach to leadership development that reinforces and supports key leadership competencies in six strategic areas. The leadership summits are one vehicle to support the institutionalization of a competency-based and continuous learning system designed to develop the next generation of leaders and Activist Leaders.
