National Leadership Summit

NEA's annual National Leadership Summit helps to develop activist leaders and prepare them with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to lead relevant, thriving associations and to lead in their professions. Our unified, strategic, and interdisciplinary approach to leadership development reinforces and supports key leadership competencies in seven strategic areas.

Save-The-Date

The theme of the 2026 Summit is Resilience. Respect. Power. Saving Public Education and Our Democracy. The theme provides context for the content of the training sessions as well as call to action for public education leaders and activists to capitalize on their learning and activate their leadership to advance NEA’s mission and vision. The Summit provides leadership training educators can immediately use to practice uniting members and the nation to build a movement to reclaim public education as a common good, as the foundation of our democracy, and transform it into a racially and socially just and equitable system. One that prepares every student to succeed in a diverse and interdependent world.

What to expect from Summit sessions?

The Summit breakout sessions are designed to be experiential learning sessions. The sessions are led by members, partners, and staff. Participants can expect to develop a foundational awareness of the NEA Leadership Competency Framework. The framework is a set of interconnected competency domains that describe the knowledge, skills, and behaviors NEA believes are necessary for every educator to achieve their career, professional, and Association goals.
