This TAW, turn appreciation into action

This Teacher Appreciation Week Turn Appreciation Into Action

National Teacher Day is May 6, 2025, and National Teacher Appreciation Week is May 5–9, 2025.

Teachers do all they can for their students, and we’re doing all we can for teachers. We’re transforming our appreciation into action that protects students, strengthens public schools, and ensures educators are treated with the respect and dignity they deserve. From our social media pages to the offices of our Representatives and Senators, this Teacher Appreciation Week – we’re taking action.

Three Ways to Turn Appreciation into Action

Help educators know just how appreciated they are by taking action: Write to Congress, learn how to make your voice heard locally, or share a message on social media, tagging @NEAToday, and using #ThankATeacher.
Tell Congress to protect federal funding for schools

Tell Congress to Protect Federal Funding for Public Schools and Colleges

Take action and tell your representatives in Congress to oppose the Republican budget resolution that would take federal funding away from our public schools and Medicaid.
Speak up locally for your school

Speak Out Locally

Learn how you can speak up about the issues you care about most and make an impact on your area's schools!
Share stories about incredible teacher sand how you support them

Share A Video Message

Share the story of an extraordinary educator in your life and let us know what you're going to do to ensure educators in your area have what they need to succeed!
