Congress Must Vote on Bills to Prevent Gun Violence

Commensense gun laws deserve to get a vote in the House.

Take Action

Tell your representative to help bring gun bills to a vote.

Americans are calling on Congress to address our nation’s epidemic of gun violence.  Yet, many of the people we have elected to represent us are refusing to act on important bills that could help stem the shootings that are now commonplace from coast to coast.

Democrats in the House of Representatives are trying to force lawmakers to vote on these bills.

They have filed “discharge petitions” on legislation that would ban assault weapons, require universal background checks on guns, and close a gaping loophole in our firearm background check system. The majority of the House—218 members—must sign the petitions in order to force the bills out of committee and onto the floor for a vote.
