Take Action
Cosponsor the Expanding Access to Mental Health Services in Schools Act (H.R. 4253)
America’s youth are experiencing a mental health crisis. In 2023, 40% of U.S. high school students had persistent feelings of sadness or hopelessness, 20% seriously considered attempting suicide, and 9% attempted suicide, according to the CDC’s Youth Risk Behavior Survey Data Summary & Trends Report: 2013–2023.
Ramped up immigration enforcement has exacerbated the problem. Every day, educators encounter students terrified by threats of mass deportation. They worry that their loved ones will be targeted and their families broken up. Some refuse to leave their homes—even to go to school.
To help ensure that all our students have the support they need, urge your representative in Congress to cosponsor the Expanding Access to Mental Health Services in Schools Act.
