Expand Full-Service Community Schools

Each school is different, because each community has different needs. But they share the goal of enabling students to focus on their main job: learning.

Expand Full-Service Community Schools

Many students come to school weighed down by worries, unmet needs, and other challenges that even adults struggle to manage. Full-service community schools address these issues by transforming traditional public schools into hubs that mobilize educators, families, and community groups to work as partners. Together, they create, collaborate, and enact a plan to meet the specific needs of their school and unique community.

Features of full-service community schools include high-quality teaching, enriched learning opportunities, mentoring, and support services to meet student and family needs—everything from access to physical and mental healthcare to providing food before, during, and after school. But each school is different, because each community has different needs.

The Full-Service Community School Expansion Act of 2026 (S. 4504/H.R. 8752) would provide $3.65 billion over five years to expand community schools serving low-income students, including in rural communities.
