Take Action
Tell Congress to Hold ICE Accountable and Prioritize Student and Community Safety
As educators, parents, and neighbors, we want our schools to be safe places of learning. We want our communities to be places of connection.
But right now, masked ICE agents are instilling fear in our students, harassing our families, and operating with impunity across our nation in states like Minnesota, Maine, and Ohio.
They are attacking students on and near school grounds and abducting neighbors from locations that are considered places of safety and care, including churches and hospitals.
ICE’s actions are traumatizing students, families, and educators and directly disrupting learning.
Only the full withdrawal of ICE on and near school grounds and in communities will make our students and families safe.
Right now, we have a meaningful opportunity to hold ICE agents and leadership accountable for their actions and stop their violent, cruel tactics. Congress is negotiating the budget for the Department of Homeland Security, which includes ICE.
Write your elected officials to demand that:
- ICE leaves our neighborhoods, and CBP border patrol resources are returned to the border.
- Federal agents use judicial warrants for enforcement actions and agencies rescind policies that allow warrantless operations.
- Federal agencies fully cooperate with state and local investigations into shootings involving federal agents by sharing all evidence and making witnesses available.
- Federal agents are prohibited from immigration enforcement at sensitive locations like schools, bus stops, early childhood centers, hospitals, and houses of worship.
This moment demands leadership. DHS funding negotiations must prioritize accountability, civil rights, and the safety of our communities.
