The Trump administration is proposing to give political appointees greater influence over decisions about which schools, colleges, and community organizations receive federal funding.
Funding for programs that students and educators rely on every day is in jeopardy, including:
-
efforts to recruit and train educators,
-
school mental health services,
-
literacy programs, and
-
other critical supports.
Funding decisions will be made by political appointees with an agenda—not based on empirical data, student needs, program quality, and professional expertise.
If this proposal goes through, any program that has implemented—or is even associated with—diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs could lose their federal funding.
At a time when schools are facing educator shortages, student mental health challenges, and ongoing learning needs, we should be strengthening federal investments, NOT putting them at risk.
Share how federal funding supports your students, school, campus, or community and why stable funding matters to you. Urge OMB to withdraw this proposal and preserve a fair, transparent, and student-centered grant system.
