Pledge to be a Safe Schools, Safe Communities Voter

To prevent gun violence, we need to show up at the ballot box and elect candidates who will pass common sense laws.

All students should be able to go to school without fear of being shot.

But too many politicians have refused to pass laws that we know will prevent gun violence.

We’ve seen some progress in recent years, with Congress passing President Biden’s Bipartisan Safer Communities Act and states passing new laws to strengthen universal background checks, gun storage, and temporary removal of guns from people a judge deems dangerous.

But so much more needs to be done.

We need to:

  • Ban assault weapons and keep these horrific weapons of war off our streets;
  • Close background check loopholes to keep guns out of the hands that will use them maliciously;
  • Ensure that those who decide to have guns at home make sure that they are safely stored away and not easily reachable for youth;
  • Invest in research on school shootings and preventative measures to keep our schools safe; and
  • Continue calling for more mental health resources, including counselors, and trauma-informed measures for both educators and students.

By adding your name, you pledge to support for candidates who will enact laws to keep our schools and communities safe from gun violence.
