Urge your representative to sign the discharge petition for the American Dream and Promise Act

Usually, a bill comes to the floor because a committee has voted to advance it. A discharge petition requires congressional leadership to bring a bill to the floor even if a committee has not “discharged” it. To succeed, 218 representatives—a majority of the House—must sign the petition.

H.R. 1589 would provide a pathway to citizenship and certainty for Dreamers brought to this country as minors, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients, and people granted Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for humanitarian reasons—populations that include nearly 37,000 educators, according to the Migration Policy Institute
