A program originally intended to help individuals with disabilities get jobs is keeping them from realizing their full potential, segregating them in workplaces, and enabling employers to pay far less than the minimum wage.

Tell Congress to Stop Employers from Paying Workers with Disabilities Less Than the Minimum Wage

The bipartisan Transformation to Competitive Integrated Employment Act (S. 533/H.R. 1263) would phase out an antiquated Labor Department program that allows employers to apply for special certification to pay workers with disabilities far less than the federal minimum wage. 

Through the Transformation to Competitive Integrated Employment Act, employers could transition out of the program and move workers with disabilities into jobs that pay at least the federal minimum wage, granting them the respect they deserve.
