Feel burned out by endless or difficult negotiations? Tired of winning less than you deserve? Feel like a small group does most of the work? This session will go over how to organize a "contract campaign" of escalating actions that drives contract negotiations, as well as how to help more of the general membership become involved in the life and work of their union. We will go over the elements of a contract campaign, how to plan and implement one, and examples of actions that union members have taken that have yielded results. These approaches are also useful for moving an employer on an issue, or what we refer to as an "issue campaign," that any NEA local can launch, regardless of the laws in your state or outside the cycle of collective bargaining.
