NEA Statement on Upcoming Educator Conferences

NEA announces cancellation of all upcoming conferences through the end of March, after reports from WHO and the CDC on the potential threats of the COVID-19 virus.
Published: March 6, 2020

WASHINGTON - Following recent reports from the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on the status and potential threats of the COVID-19 virus, NEA announced it has cancelled all upcoming conferences through the end of March.

The following can be attributed to NEA President Lily Eskelsen García:

“The nation’s students, educators, and all their families are at the forefront of our thinking as the nation grapples with the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus. This decision was made with an overabundance of caution to protect our students, our members and our staff.

We will continue to monitor the situation for our events beyond March. The safety of every single student and educator across the country is our top priority, and NEA will continue to make decisions based on the latest information available.”
