NEA & CEA applaud Rep. Jahana Hayes’ introduction of the Pell Grant Restoration Act

A longtime education advocate and National Education Association member, Jahana Hayes (also NEA’s 2016 National Teacher of the Year) is lauded by NEA’s president, Lily Eskelsen Garcia for introducing Pell Grant Restoration Act, H.R. 4298, that she conceived to help students who were victims of predatory for-profit colleges to get a clean slate and second chance.

Joint statement from the presidents of the National Education Association and Mississippi Association of Educators in response to ICE raids in Mississippi

Hundreds of workers were detained and parents were forced to leave children behind after ICE raids in Mississippi Adding insult to injury, these unethical raids coincided with the first day of school. NEA President Lily Eskelsen García and Erica Jones, President of the Mississippi Association of Educators, issued statements.
