Education International’s Unite for Quality Education Campaign—This awareness campaign maintains that quality public education for all is one of the fundamental pillars of a just and equitable society; demonstrates that privatization undermines public education and and is detrimental to the interests of society; and ensures that the free, universal quality education goal is a central part of any global development strategy.
2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development—The Sustainable Development Goals are a call for action by all countries – poor, rich and middle-income – to promote prosperity while protecting the planet. They recognize that ending poverty must go hand-in-hand with strategies that build economic growth and address a range of social needs including education, health, social protection, and job opportunities, while tackling climate change and environmental protection.
Sustainable Development Goal 4 - Quality Education—The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in March 2020 launched the COVID-19 Global Education Coalition to help countries mobilize resources and coordinate their response to the global pandemic with regards to education. Global Campaign for Education—GCE brings together major nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) and teachers’ unions to promote access to education as a basic human right and mobilize public pressure to create the political will for governments and other leaders in the international community to fulfill their promises to provide a free, quality public education for all children. NEA is an active member of the U.S. Chapter of the Global Campaign for Education, a broad-based coalition of more than 70 non-governmental and religious organizations, teachers unions, foundations and child advocates to ensuring universal access to a quality education.
